The Mirage 650L Stepped Tank Fire Fighter is equipped with a powerful Honda GP 160 engine for reliable performance. This high-pressure firefighter is designed to meet the demanding needs of firefighting situations in South Africa, ensuring efficiency and ease of use.

Constructed from robust polyethylene, the low-profile tank boasts a substantial 650L capacity, making it a formidable ally in combating veld fires. Despite its impressive size, this tank remains strong yet lightweight, weighing only 90kg. The inclusion of lift and carry handles enhances portability, allowing for quick deployment when every second counts.

The steel mounting base, equipped with rubber mounts, provides stability during operation, ensuring the unit remains secure on most single and double-cab bakkies/pickups. Its compact dimensions (1.1m length, 1.2m width, 0.8m height) make it a versatile solution for various vehicles.

Efficiency meets convenience with the large lid, facilitating easy filling and cleaning. The lid is also fitted with a securing cable to prevent accidental openings during transport or operation.

The Mirage 650L Stepped Tank Fire Fighter is driven by a Honda GP160 engine, guaranteeing reliable power. Oil is pre-added to both the pump and the engine, reducing setup time and ensuring optimal performance from the start.

This firefighting powerhouse includes a 20m high-pressure fire hose with a hose reel, allowing for strategic and controlled water distribution. The 40-bar high-pressure pump and the heavy-duty steel gun ensure a formidable force against flames. The venturi head and 3m suction hose further enhance the unit's firefighting capabilities.

Instructions for setup:

Load the firefighting skid unit onto the back of your bakkie or pickup using the lift and carry handles. Secure the steel mounting base and ensure the rubber mounts are correctly installed to ensure the stability of the unit during transit.

How to fill the firefighter skid unit:

Switch on the water pump and use the 3-meter venturi pipe to suck up and fill the water tank.  Ensure the unit is filled with water from a relatively clean water source. Debris and muddy water should be avoided as this can damage the water pump over time. You can always use or install a sifting barrier into your water source to ensure that you do not suck up too much debris when filling the tank when you urgently need water.

What is a venturi pipe and why do you need it?

In a venturi pipe head, there is a gradual narrowing or constriction in the pipe. This narrowing increases the speed of the fluid passing through that section. According to a scientific principle, as the speed of a fluid increases, its pressure decreases, leading to faster water intake.

How to use the Mirage Firefighter

To use the firefighter, switch on the pump, aim the firefighting gun at the desired area and pull the trigger mechanism to release water. Be careful to have a balanced, wide-set stance so that the pressure of the water does not push you off your feet.

High-pressure firefighting units are designed to deliver water over longer distances making it ideal for fighting grass fires when you need to quickly douse the flames before the fire gets out of control.

PRECAUTIONS!

These skid units are suggested for use on small fires before they become out of control or to create fire breaks. ALWAYS have an exit strategy in mind when fighting wildfires as they can rapidly expand and overcome the vehicle. Keep an eye on your exit route and leave the area immediately if it looks like your exit will be closed off by the fire.
